Diamon - Okonomiyaki Hiroshima Style @ Low Yat Plaza, KL.

'Sunday Bloody Sunday' by U2 was blaring from my stereo and true enough it's going to be a bloody Sunday for me. Well, Pikom IT Fair is on again at KLCC and today is the final day for computer junkies to purchase cheaper than usual deals at the fair. Bloody it's gonna be as the crowd is going to be 'hell'.

My fiance and I were supposed to make a trip there. But we never did. We made our way to Low Yatt Plaza instead as a close friend of ours are able to give us a good deal on notebooks a deal even better compared to the Pikom Fair.

Here we are staring at hundreds of shops selling apparently the same gadgets. We did managed to get what we came for. And we also managed to grab a bite at one of the eatery situated on the Lower Ground Floor.

The place is called Daimon. And they serve Okonomiyaki, Hiroshima style. In plain English Okonomiyaki means Japanese Pizza or Pancake. In Japan, there are two areas where okonomiyaki is very popular: Osaka and Hiroshima.

Okonomiyaki is cooked differently in the two regions. In Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, chopped cabbage is cooked on top of thinly spread batter. Also, yakisoba noodles are usually added in Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. In Osaka-style okonomiyaki, chopped cabbage is mixed with the batter and cooked together.

There are 10 different types of Japanese Pizza available - Hiroshima Cheese, Negi, Spicy, Mayo, Ikaten, Sweet Corn, All Stars, Seafood, Tuna and Supreme.

This place is cool as you can be seated at the same place the chef do their cooking. It is mesmerizing seeing them strut their stuff preparing and dishing up the Japanese pizza in front of your naked eye.

These seats were taken up when we made our way there. So we do not feel mesmerized at all (chuckle) but we did managed to find ourselves a lovely corner, still with a view to kill.

We decided to order a Hiroshima Mayo (RM15) which is made of vegetable, pork, squid, prawn, egg, SOBA and mayonnaise. SOBA (そば or 蕎麦) is a type of thin Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour.

It didn't take long to be served. The aroma was just fabulous making us drool uncontrollable and when we sink our teeth to the first piece of pancake or pizza ....... HHHMMMMM.... just so so so good. Yummy!

You will be able to taste all the ingredient from cabbage to bean sprout to the prawns and squid and the SOBA and the mayo. Yeah, I managed to taste them all and it is a pure delight to be able to do just that. It was a little salty for me but it was meant to be that way as you were suppose to eat everything (ingredient) in one go.

It may be a little costly but it was worth the money as the Okonomiyaki is really good. And I must add that the service and attitude of the staff are just lovely. And the best thing is that they do 'deliveries' to selected areas in KL.

Cheers.
