Canoodling @ Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

Just can't believe that I have been 'Missing In Action' for almost 1 year. Oh Blimey !!! Thousand apologies to all my followers and readers. Time have not been favourable to me. But I will do my very best to keep on blogging and make it more interesting. - T3T4.

Alright ! Back to business. What's on for today? 'Canoodling' .... at Bangsar ! Yeah, I should start off with this lovely restaurant situated at Bangsar Village 2 which I personally was attracted to.

This place took me by surprise with it's simple yet elegant setup and it's surroundings. It made me feel at home instantly and frankly I was telling myself hoping that their menu and food can be of the same. My fingers was crossed the whole time as I didn't wanted to feel disappointed after a rousing start.

Before I move on to the menu I would like to share some lovely pictures of the place and it's environment. I am sure you will find it cozy, simple and elegant. The theme here is yellow.

The place was pretty packed with lunch mongers and we were told by regulars that the place is always packed. So it will be a great idea to come in early. And I am sure the food is good judging from the crowded place. So, let's move on ....

The Canoodle Oodles of Noodles @ RM11.90++

Marinated Minced Chicken in Dark Soy & Coriander Root
Lettuce Leaves & Coriander and Spicy Coriander Garlic Sauce
Steamed Silken Rice Noodle Sheets
To start off with the dry noodle selection with the funky name 'The Canoodle Oodles of Noodles', darn it I am getting tongue tied by saying it.... This is a greyhound Thailand inspired complicated noodles with stacks of iceberg lettuce leaves & coriander, marinated minced chicken in dark soy and coriander root plus steamed silken rice noodle sheets, each served in it's own bowl with a spicy coriander garlic sauce.

I am getting tongue tied plus tummy growls just by it's name and description of this dish. I would say this will be my appetizer for the day. Even though it can be quite filling. And how do you eat them?

Just like how one will eat a 'popiah'. Yeah, it's the same way but with a different twist of flavor and taste. Remember this is a Thai inspired dish and with it's spicy garlic sauce and all the other stuff that came with it this will be a great start.

To eat, assemble into little parcels and share as you please. Yeah ! this was what was printed on their menu. The guys running this place really does have an artistic mind ... and mind you this dish does tastes good. Really. I am not into such 'wrap and makan' foodie but this really changed my perception on it. Chicken tasted really good and was well cooked and well marinated which is good and top it with the spicy coriander garlic sauce .... viola...... faint ! I am speechless.

Tom Yam Noodles @ RM13.90++
Fiery clear Thai soup made with lemongrass, chilli and galingale served over rice vermicelli with prawns, squids and straw mushrooms.

Who dare to take this challenge! OMG .... omg .... lost of breath. It's kind of spicy but I can take them hands down. Yeah, the broth surely does tastes spicy and sour which lives up to it's characteristic. It does spice up your appetite. Loved it. Truly a hearty meal. Burp!!! excuse me....

Wok Fried Loh Shu Fun @ RM12.90++
After two Thai inspired tongue boggling dish let us move back to some local street foodie, 'wok fried loh shu fun'. This dish can be found all over Malaysia as it is considered one of the famous hawker food which most Malaysian enjoy. Since hawker food in Malaysia is world famous it will be a test of culinary skills whether the guys at 'Canoodling' can dish up a good one.

I am a little worried that my 'taste buds' will fail me. It will be a test for me to dig deep into the taste of this lovely pot of 'loh shu fun' as I have just finished a hearty bowl of Thai Tom Yum noodles. The strong taste of the tom yum still lingers in my mouth and I wouldn't want to mis-represent the 'loh shu fun'.

Munch... munch ..... hmm.... wow.... I was amazed !!! It does taste good and comparable with those along Petaling Street. Really... I really hope it's not a 'one off wonder' thing but the noodle I am having in front of me is really good. Noodle was cooked just right not too soft and the whole package was just lovely. Not too salty (something I really hated)... darn it I just don't know what to say anymore.

Red Curry Duck Confit Noodle @ RM13.90++
Charcoal noodles topped with Thai styled red curry with lychees finished with a whole crispy duck leg and fresh basil.

This is really something special. Curry Duck. I have never tried curry duck before and this will be my first. I love curry and all this time it's either curry chicken, curry mutton, pork curry or beef curry. But not duck. Nevertheless, there is always a first time. BTW this duck noodle is supposed to be one of 'Canoodling' famous dish.

Curry was pretty good since it is another one which is Thai inspired. I would have preferred two duck leg since one is not enough for my indulgence. LOL. The rich aroma of fresh basil take this noodle a notch up and I was totally delighted with the guys from 'Canoodling' for coming up with such a delicious noodle. Now I know how well duck goes with curry!

Braised Duck and Ginger Noodle @ RM12.90++
Another famous duck noodle and this time it is Hong Kong inspired 'yee mee' tossed with aromatic braised duck leg and wood ear fungus in dark soy.

I couldn't make it whether this is a 'soupy' noodle or just 'dry' noodle. It was supposed to be 'dry' but with a little extra broth in it makes it something like 'semi-soupy'. LOL. I think I must be drunk with too much good food here.

Nevertheless, this Hong Kong style noodle is a must! Duck was perfectly cooked and I just couldn't resist the aroma of this noodle. Anything that has 'yee mee' in it tasted good and this is what this noodle is all about.

Conclusion : Everything that is connected to this place is just funky. Funk name for the place as well for the food. Lovely environment. Nice ambiance. Pretty good service. Pretty good serving. Pretty fair pricing. Pretty good food.  Just pretty. Recommended. A 4/5.

Cheers!

F Concept Dining by Buffalo Kitchens @ Bangsar.

Some people fancy clothes, some fancy golfing items, some fancy shoes, some fancy cars... but I really do fancy some really good looking shiny pots and pans. I just love and adore such wares. I always make it a point to view such items whenever I go shopping.

There is this particular brand which really interests me, simply called 'Buffalo'. This world famous brand originated from Taiwan and has won numerous awards in the world. Such items are pretty expensive in this country, very unfortunately, maybe because of the high taxes and duties set by the Malaysian government. I can get a similar one or even a better one in the USA for a fraction of the price found in our local shops.

I was pretty surprised to find a shop selling the 'Buffalo' cookware that is located on the first floor along a row of shops in Bangsar. Not only a shop selling the famous brand but it is also a restaurant too ! Walau !!

The setup was pretty and there are loads of wooden furniture covering the whole area which is something I fancy very much. I love the ambiance of wood and the more the merrier.

Dining area are all indoor and there is a small little area, a verandah , which is meant for those who would want to enjoy a good cup of whatever. Cause they have an outdoor bar specially for this purpose. I bet you'll enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance of this lovely place.

As you can see 'Buffalo' cookware are sold in this outlet too and you can find various types of wares here to suit your choice. Why only 'Buffalo'? Because I reckon they are the local sole agent for these fantastic wares.

This was what we had today and I must say that the set lunch is very well priced at RM18++ for 3 fabulous meals. We were told that you will get different types of combination for the set lunches daily which makes it interesting. And it starts from 12pm -2:30pm.

Mushroom Soup
This is one of the best mushroom soup I have ever had for a long time. Texture was just right and the soup was rich with mushroom which makes it unbelievable tasty and delicious. Wonderfully done and scores full marks from us all.

Spaghetti Basil Pesto with Chicken
This lovely delicious looking plate of spaghetti is only worth looking at. It was very bland, very tasteless. We needed to spread more salt, pepper and parmesan cheese to make this pasta to have some zing to it. I was just wondering what went wrong here. This was supposed to be an easy job to cook but it turned out otherwise. Was a big let down, really.

Mango Cake Dessert
And to finished off this set lunch came the dessert in a form of 'mango cake'. Yes, this cake does taste like mango but it was rather 'dry'. It was making my throat feeling uncomfortable as it takes a whole lot of strength to push it right through it. A little disappointed, really.

Conclusion : Now I know where to get my stainless steel wares. And also now I know where I should not go for set lunches. Maybe just for a bowl of mushroom soup. But the rest is better to be left aside and not forgetting not to mention it too much. A 2/5 for the food but a 5/5 for the 'Buffalo'.

Cheers !

twenty.one @ Bangsar

Twenty.one ..... a number where it is highly loved by many. Well it could be '21' from a game of 'blackjack'. 21 years of age ~ a prime age, 21 for some means 'longevity' as 2 + 1 = 3 (sang). Etc...

This particular 21 is located in Bangsar Shopping Center at Bangsar. Twenty.one is a place where the young and the restless would like to let their hair loose in the evening with a couple of chilled beers or liquor, a place for many to unwind and entwined (LOL) and all this happens after sun set.

And during the day this place dishes out some really cool and funky and affordable set lunches. Cool in a sense where 'East meets West' and plenty to be offered. There are approx 10 different types of set lunches to choose from ~ sandwich, curry noodle, pasta, thai green curry just to name a few. And each set lunches comes with a glass of fruit juice or carbonated drink.

Different angle shots of twenty.one
The atmosphere of this place is pretty cool and relaxing indeed. The only downfall is that it smelt of cigarettes which is a pain. This unpleasant scent was being left overnight by late night party goers which is ok for the evening event but not for daytime event.

Complementary snacks before a meal
Service is commendable too as the waiter and waitress there are pretty alert and attentive. But it all depends on how busy they are, actually, from my point of view. They are also pretty well mannered and really performed in what they do best. Very hospitable indeed.

Thai Green Chicken Curry @ RM18.00++
Very presentable indeed when this dish was brought to us. Somehow there was just no 'aroma' to fill us in and this I smelt danger. And true enough from the very first spoonful of this lovely looking green curry into my watery mouth ~ ngom, ngom, ngom ..... it's tasteless. Failed miserably. If I was blindfolded I would not know that this particular bowl is 'green curry'. Yeah it's really this bad. Comes with some potatoes, beans and peas and served with a handful of bread. Yeah, no rice though. Pretty odd eh.

Bread for dipping (green curry)
Penne Tubes @ RM18.00++
Oh what a marvelous plate of pasta. It comes with 'tempura eggplant' and 'pesto chicken'. I found myself gobbling up this plate of pasta non-stop which means only one thing ~ delicious.

Spaghetti Oglio Olio @ RM10.00++
...and when we thought we had one of the best pasta, came another that is mind-blowing. I was firing in all cylinders. This Oglio Olio was even better. It comes with beef bacon, chilli, coriander and olive oil. Yummy !

Toasted Pesto Chicken Sandwich @ RM9.00++
Ahh .... finally one of the two sandwich was served. First to come was the chicken sandwich which came with tomatoes with bearnaise sauce and some fries with some dipping sauce. Pure delight sinking my teeth into this lovely sandwich. It was so delicious where everyone wanted more.

The 'Scummy Salmon Sandwich' tasted even better. It was truly amazing and out of this world. Words just cannot describe how wonderful it can be. And at RM16.00++  truly a bargain.

Conclusion : Not too bad foodie, lot's of variety ~ only touched on set lunches and lot's more from the ala carte menu, commendable service, pretty relaxing atmosphere, can't stand the ciggie smell, reasonable pricing.  But portion was slightly too small. A 3/5.

Cheers.

Four Seas Seafood Grill @ Bangkung, Bangsar

Frontage of the restaurant
I had an awesome dream ~chauffeur driven by 'Jeremy Clarkson' in his highly acclaimed Ford Mondeo. Beside me was a younger version of 'Nicole Kidman', side by side enjoying the ride and sightseeing along the beach front... And suddenly we found ourselves to be heading towards Bangsar. How'd it happened? All of a sudden a red coloured Ferrari pulled alongside and I was actually driving it. How'd it happened? LOL....Poooof ..... I was back to reality and all of it was just a dream. A wonderful dream and the only thing real about it was that we were really heading towards Bangsar. Hmm.... Deja vu....

This is a day to be cherished with both laughter and happiness. A day where we will be having our last supper with a close friend who will be leaving us for greener pasture abroad. All this is happening at 'Four Seas Seafood Grill @ Bangkung, Bangsar'.

Funky Interior
The Glass Tank
The interior of this place is breathtaking. It was like 'love at first sight'. Somehow I have always loved upmarket style with comfort and cleanliness, dining here would be as comfortable as lying on in bed. Cool indeed.

Coffin Bay Live Oyster
Traditional Chili Oz Mussels
Moules Mariniere Oz Mussels
Let's be a little adventurous for once. Instead of salads or soup for starters we had 'shells' instead. Big ones small ones whatever.... As you can see from the lovely pics above, who would not fall in love this Christmas? Everything's so perfect, so smooth, so relax, so delicious yet so cool. It's like listening to Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Oh well Four Seas, Four Seasons, Four of a kind Four whatever...... Isn't she lovely???

Oven Baked Mulloway
..... with mushroom ragout, onion mint yogurt and beetroot crisps. Yeah that's it. I totally got it all right. And the adventure doesn't stop here. It may not look like any ordinary foodie that we will eat everyday but it does look pretty and when I sank my teeth into them, hell just broke loose. I could see 'Nicole Kidman' again. Chuckle.... Very amazing, very original, very odd looking stuff.... :)

Braised Wagyu Beef Cheeks
...... with mashed potato and gravy. So tender, so succulent, so delicious, so high in calories, so original, so 'there goes my diet', so mouth watering. I could feel the meat melting in my mouth if only I am on 'heat'. LOL. Pretty good indeed but I would rather go for a burger. Dang! But this will do ........ o.O

Pan Fried Grouper
Spaghetti Aglio Olio Frutti Di Mare
Garlic King Prawn
Food were simply amazing. Taste was 'out of this world'. I am already in a world of my own trying to figure out what struck me. My thoughts just keeps coming back to food no matter how much I wanted out. Hehehe. The fish, the prawns, the spaghetti was simply marvelous. I have lost all words for any descriptions in any way. Just eat it!

Yin Yang Creme Brule
Thyme & Pine Nut Tart served with Haagen-Dazs ice-cream
Valrhona Chocolate Mousse with Marmalade
Fresh Creme & Candied Basil
As for dessert, we simply had all the above. I would say this again ~ words just cannot describe how fabulous these little angels taste like. I would not say that these are the best I've had in years (or I ever had) but somehow if you were to dine from A to Z you will be amused and amazed later. Could it be the atmosphere or could it be the food or could it be both. Make a date to find out......

Conclusion : Very pricey. But what do you expect from 'fine dining'? Very good choice of food ~ East meets West. Lovely environment, lovely setup, lovely food, lovely blue lights that makes you wonder whether you are on dry land or are you under the sea.....  I liked it.  A 4/5. And the dream a 5/5. LOL.

Cheers.
