Restoran Super Kitchen - Chilli Pan Mee @ Kepong.
This is one day which is supposed to be a fine day turned bad. Nothing to do with the weather, nothing to do with work, nothing to do with my wifey and nothing to do with $$$ too. It's just me! Am feeling totally blur for the whole day. Needed to take a break and go to somewhere far. As far as possible. Ended up in Kepong. Is it far enough? I reckon so. Couldn't go any further as my "zoom-zoom" four wheeler is out of gas. LOL.....
It could be a blessing in disguise. Kepong is already a booming suburb with lot's of new buildings and more newer ones to come by. Unlike the old days where this place is like a cowboy town. Thanks to new developments which made this place a heaven for food. The number of restaurants mushrooming here is incredible. I have never seen so many restaurants in one single area and it happened to Kepong. And the chosen one is Restoran Super Kitchen - Chilli Pan Mee.
As the name speaks for itself this place is famous for it's chilli pan mee (RM5). This pan mee is not the usual pan mee sold in most kopitiam. This is the dry type pan mee which came with minced meat, friend anchovies, fried shallots, spring onions and an egg. It is accompanied with a bowl of soup.
Put a few spoonful of chilli into the bowl of pan mee and you are set to go. Really spicy, noodle texture just right making this a very delicious bowl of noodle. And the portion is pretty reasonable too. Besides this pan mee we ordered they also serve different types of pan mee too. Not to worry if you are not a spicy fan.
We also ordered a bowl of curry pan mee (RM5). This bowl of noodle came with fish balls and meat balls, tofu, bean sprout, long beans and few strands of mint leaves. I was equally surprised with the taste. The santan based soup is not too spicy and not too santan-ish which is surprisingly good. And the portion of this noodle is huge. Tasted so much better than the one I had in SS2, PJ.
Besides having noodles we also ordered a bowl of meat dumpling (RM10). The dumpling size is huge and filled with meat. Yummy was the first words that came out from my mouth. Finished the first dumpling within a blink of an eye. It's really good. Luckily we ordered a big bowl which consists of 10 meat dumplings. Enough to satisfy my desire and lust for it.
That's not all we also ordered an extra bowl of met balls (RM6) which is really huge, chunky and delicious.
All the food that we ordered got 2 thumbs up from all of us. It may not be the best we have tasted but it does stands out in terms of taste, portion and price. Get's my recommendation! if you fancy a bowl of noodle.
Cheers.

Ajisen Ramen - Japanese Restaurant & Noodle Bar @ Giza Mall
Sunway Giza Shopping Mall at Kota Damansara seems to be the latest craze in town. Lot's of eateries, a couple of pubs, a supermarket, karaoke center and more eateries. It's living hell there especially looking for a parking space. There's no night nor day at this place as it's always busy.
It was a Friday night and the crowd has started to build up. Most of the restaurants were full with patrons full of the weekend crowd. Since there's so many restaurants to choose from we decided to dine at 'Ajisen Ramen'. This outlet is it's latest outlet and the 3rd in KL.
The first outlet is in 1 Utama Shopping Mall and the second outlet at Sunway Pyramid.
The setup of this place is simple and nice. But a little stuffy as the kitchen is sharing the same premise even though it's separated with glass partition. The smoke gets in your eye.... LOL.
First to come is the 'Chicken Katsu Ramen Set' (RM12.80). This noodle set consists of soup based noodle and a plate of fried chicken breast cut into bite size and 2 slices of watermelon. The noodle is slightly overcooked but the soup is really delicious. This bowl of noodle is filled with seaweed, bean sprout, half an egg and Japanese noodle. The Chicken is 100% over-fried. The meat is tough and dry and it doesn't taste good. And the portion is very little.
Next came the 'Pork Garlic Set' (RM14.80) which consists of pork fried with green & red capsicum and a plate of Gyoza. The pork tasted something like the Chinese version Kung Po. Nothing to shout about. Tasted very salty but goes well with rice. But the texture of the meat is very soft as if the meat is not fresh. I totally dislike this dish. The 'goyza' tasted good and it was being snapped up in a split of a second.
Do you know that Goyza originated from China? Yeah! It was introduced to Japan in the 17th century and since then the Japanese loved it so much that it made it theirs. LOL.
Conclusion. Food is below par, very disappointed. At least there's some consolation - the soup and the goyza is worth mentioning. And the service is really good! That's about it. Don't think you'll see me going into this place again unless they perform a miracle.
Cheers.

Lynn's Restaurant & Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya.
My friend assured me that I will not be disappointed with this place in terms of it's food an environment.... knowing me having a super fussy taste buds for food.
This place is famously known as 'Lynn's Restaurant & Cafe' which specialises in Local and Western Cuisine.
I was instantly impressed when we set foot at the restaurant cause we were personally greeted by Lynn herself. This personal touch made all of us really special and this is the type of place I really enjoy being in.
This is a place you should anticipate with delight. The constant coming and going of patrons is a testament of the restaurant's popularity. It may be consistently busy but there is always a table available. And available it is for 9 of us.
Inside, wooden tables are flanked by wooden chairs making the place look cosy. Being in an end lot means lot's of natural lights and with both air conditioning and ceiling fans turned on this place feels really comfortable.
We were really spoiled for choice..... we have an option of ordering from the 'ala carte' menu, opt for 'weekend hi-tea' or ..... have both!
Weekend Hi-Tea is available for Saturdays & Sundays, from 2:30pm - 5:30pm. Price is at RM10 per pax. This is not all.... Pay for 3 with the 4th guest eat for FREE. Yeah! and guaranteed with minimum 20 pax food made available. Did I mentioned it comes with free flow drinks.... orange juice, coffee or tea.
Today's Hi-Tea consists of the following :
Vege Salad, Fried Spring Roll, Samosa, Fried Rice, Fried Noodle, Curry Mixed Vegetable, Grilled Chicken, Yong Tau Foo and Fried Fish Balls, Chocolate Cake, Jelly, Yam .............
For 'Ala Carte' ... came the house specialty 'Grilled Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce' comes with fries and coleslaw while the 'Thai Mango Chicken Rice'. came with vegetable.
The chicken was perfectly grilled and still have the juiciness in it. Pure delight. And the black pepper sauce was equally good and goes very well with the meat. There was a special 'taste' to the sauce which I trully enjoyed.
As for the Thai Mango Chicken Rice it is a very appetizing dish. Well balance taste - a little spicy and sourly taste makes one want to 'tambah nasi'. Truly enjoyable.
All are excellent, very delicious, mouth watering, huge portion and pocket friendly too. And it is MSG free! Don't have the thirsty feeling after 'wallopping' all the delicious food. Highly recommended!
As a token of appreciation from "Lynn's" for all 'AhLianAhBeng' readers or followers you only need to pay RM9.90 (NP RM12.80) for the Grilled Black Pepper Chicken. Just mention that you are a reader and this offer will be extended to you. Terms & conditions apply.
Last but not least, the jewel of the crown, Lynn's does catering too!! Isn't this wonderful!!
Lynn's does catering for all types of events or functions - College Events, Satay Parties, Birthday Parties, Special Fullmoon Package Party, Product Launches, Pre-Packed Meals, Anniversaries, Funeral Luncheon, etc.........
Personally, I would suggest to all potential clients to place their catering bookings early to avoid disappointment.

Restoran Lorong Seratus Tahun @ SS2, PJ.
When one calls for hawker food the word 'Penang' will be the very first to slip out from ones mouth. Yeah, Penang is really famous for it's food and in the Penang Island itself there are so many famous hawker stalls selling world famous hawker food from shops along Jalan Burmah to Jalan Macalister to Gurney Drive.
Penang famous hawker food are as follows : Hokkien Mee, Rojak, Asam Laksa, Chee Cheong Fan, Char Kuey Teow, Mee Rebus, Nasi Kandar, Curry Mee, Oor Chean, the list is endless.
One need not travel all the way to Penang to enjoy all these lovely food cause you can get it in the heart of PJ in SS2. This place is famously known as Restoran Lorong Seratus Tahun.
This place is very popular amongst the locals cause the food which is being sold here truly resembles the original from Penang. It's not easy to find a restaurant which serves 'ori' Penang food and this is the reason why this place is always packed with new and regular clients.
Without fail one must order the famous Curry mee which came with squid and prawns with lot's of bean sprout and topped with semi-cooked cockles. When it came I just couldn't resist the temptation as it smelled so good. Add 2 spoonful of chilli sauce into it as I love it hot and spicy. Well, the soup tasted good, different from the local ones, full of santan taste in it BUT the noodles was just slightly overcooked (aiya no QC ar), only a couple of small miserable prawns which is 100% overcooked including the squids which tasted rubberish (tough to chew). Then again, one would not complain that much since finding a Penang style curry mee in KL is not an easy tasks.
We also ordered a plate of Chee Cheong Fan which came with prawn paste sauce and chilli sauce. It was topped with lot's of sesame seeds with lot's of fried shallots. This is one dish that will get 2 thumbs up from me. The sauce was just incredible. It's thick, it's yummy, it's delicious, it's mouth watering, it's just amazing. It's only amazing if you like the chee cheong fan in prawn paste sauce. Cool.....
Next came the nasi lemak with rendang chicken. This dish is really pathetic as the chicken size is really SMALL. Yeah, including the rice too. It's like kids meal. So little yet so expensive. This is a no-no. But it does taste OK. But the 'syiokness' is no longer there after seeing the portion of this meal.
There are so much to order from. Maybe on our next visit..... there's still otak-otak, chendol, ice kacang, char kuay teow.......
Conclusion. A pretty cool place for makan Penang hawker food. Taste really close to Penang 'Ori'. Not too bad. BUT very expensive ! compared to the ori price you pay in Penang.
Cheers.

Restoran Hup Soon - Western Food @ SS3, PJ.
It has been some time since I had my last 'local' western food. I have always been an ardent fan for this delicacy since a very young age. I reckon most Malaysian are fans for western food in particular the 'local' version of it.
One lovely place which is popular amongst the locals and also those from afar. When one mentioned about western food in SS3 this place will be the first to be shouted. And there is a reason why this place is so popular - value for money good western food and fast service.
A look at their menu will baffle you as there are so many variety of western food served here. It may be a difficult choice to make when ordering but one who is a regular here will know what they want. Famously known for their "Black Pepper Chicken" and "Fish & Chips". The others are equally good and worth a 'chew'. LOL...
The kitchen area is huge, full of space which makes cooking and preparation easy and a joy.
We were being served within 10 minutes upon ordering which is very impressive. Came was the Black Pepper Grilled Chicken and Fish & Chips.
The Black Pepper Chicken came with French Fries, Coleslaw, a couple slices of cucumber & tomato and of course the grilled chicken covered with black pepper sauce.
The black pepper sauce is just marvelous, so tasty you'd want to drink it. LOL. Perfect combination with the grilled chicken. Not to spicy, chicken perfectly grilled yet juicy and fries still sizzling...... tender and succulent.
The quality was extended to the fish & chips too. The fish was tenderly fried served with 'a special sauce', fries, coleslaw, cucumber and tomato. Take a bite of the fish meat dipped with the special sauce and you will be amazed. It is really yummy. I reckon the special sauce consists of shallots, garlic, tartar sauce, etc...
A very satisfying meal indeed. Recommended especially for family outing with kiddos......
Cheers.
